Words from Big Balz:
Every step is an adventure. Every day is a surprise. Because of that, I can say we have lived and today we will rise. My name is Hank Balz. I am the CEO and owner of Balz Magazine. We are an international magazine based out of Encinitas, California. We are located in one of the most beautiful places in the world to live, in the thick of the heavy music scene. Our circulation quickly reached beyond neighboring counties such as Los Angeles and Orange County, spreading like wild fire into Las Vegas, Columbus, Detroit, and crossed the seas as far as Dresden, Germany, Italy and Indonesia (Bali). Founded with a hell-bent mission to cover the hardest, heaviest, loudest, dirtiest and most outrageous rock bands from all over the world; we eat, sleep and breathe the foundation and future of this great all encompassing genre we call rock. From the original foundation of rock-n-roll to the future of thrash metal, as one generation passes away, another one begins, and we’re here to write about it all.
Where do I come from? Houston, Texas. I was born and raised in the Second ward off of Navigation Street which is a pretty rough ass part of town. I will always remember where I come from, though I am truly blessed to be where I am. I feel like skipping because I am so happy and excited about this new journey. Today’s music has a lot to say but as we’ve all had the pleasure of bearing witness to, doesn’t say much at all. When I was a child, metal ruled the world. As a generation, we have the power to bring that back even stronger. We all know it’s not about what you have; it’s about what you leave behind because that’s the only thing anyone will ever know in the end. We are a society that has been lashing out through music since the first mosh pit ever took place. We must continue to keep that spirit alive and thirsty for fresh earblood. Let the gates of metal open!
